On Friday I recieved a priority mail box at my door from Hockey Mom - containing 2 skeins of Noro Kureyon in the colorway that I needed to complete the entrelac scarf. I realized that the box was entirely too big to house just 2 skeins of yarn and looked back in the box to see that there was a BAG of yarn inside! I pulled out the bag to reveal 10 skeins of Noro Kureyon in color #51- enough for the Lady Eleanor stole that I’ve been looking at online and drooling over for the past week! I knew that it took 10 skeins of Kureyon but knew that there was no way I could afford the yarn for it. Turns out that Ms. Sandy had snagged this little treat from Restless Knitter at the Wednesday SNB and delivered it to me! I’m so blown away by the kindness of fellow knit-bloggers.. its just unreal. So thank you to both of you! I did also recieve some other gorgeous yarns from Jane of Quiddity for my birthday which never made it into photographs ( I was too busy squishing it..) but that y’all will be seeing when I come up with something to do with them. I love when people de-stash!! Unfortunately if I went through and destashed.. all anyone would get would be a crapload of Red Heart and Lion Brand Homespun, and there aren’t that many folks out there willing to take that off my hands!
I really need to re-organize my stash and figure out what I’m doing for holiday gift giving this year.. since that time is creeping up on us. I’m planning on doing very little gift-crafting this year because I feel like I have a load of people on my list who don’t appreciate the trouble and time that goes into making a handmade gift. Don’t get me wrong.. I’m not saying that I give handmade gifts simply to get the “wow factor” and loads of praise.. but when a gift you spent a lot of time on gets shuffled past with barely a half hearted “thanks”.. you decide that those folks aren’t on your list for next year.
