She Walks In Beauty :by Lord Byron
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
A thank you to Mogs Blog for hosting this year’s poetry slam. If you participate, please leave her a comment so that we can create a “poetry web”. This is my 4th year participating in the poetry slam.. I look forward to it every year.
♥♥♥♥ Also, as it is every year.. today is my wedding anniversary. This year it will be 11 years of having to say:
“yes.. we got married on February 2nd. Yes.. I DO realize (I realize it NOW.. I had no idea until someone pointed it out.. ) that it is Groundhog’s Day. Its also Imbolc – a pagan holiday and celebration of the Goddess Brigid. ::: insert blank look and glazed eyes here:::: Yes, I know – Groundhog’s Day.. hahahahaha. Shut up.”
